This summer (2025), I visited Local Life Japan, a language school in Akashi, Hyogo. Just 20 minutes by train from Kobe—and yet, it feels like a completely different world: calmer, friendlier, and full of the “real Japan” many people hope to experience.
First Impressions 🚉
The train ride from Kobe was stunning, with ocean views along the way. After arriving at Akashi Station, I found the school just a short walk away. (Tip: the tourist help center next to the station can guide you if you’re unsure!)
The School Atmosphere 🏫
Local Life Japan feels warm and welcoming. Classes are small, so you really get personal attention. Lessons are fun and practical, designed to help students use Japanese with confidence.
Community & Culture 🎎
The school connects students with the local community. Staff also bring in cultural activities—traditional arts, performances, and hands-on experiences—so learning goes beyond the classroom.
Homestay Families 🏠
I heard wonderful stories about the homestay program. Families are warm and caring, eager to include students in their daily lives.
New: The Au Pair Option ✨
Through our partnership, students can now join a special **Au Pair program**. By helping host families with light childcare or household tasks, participants can save on living costs while gaining even deeper cultural exchange.
