About Coto Japanese Institute

Founded in 2000, Coto has welcomed more than 16,000 learners from over 50 countries.
Known for its practical, communication-focused teaching and supportive community, Coto operates several campuses in Tokyo and Yokohama.
In October 2026, Coto will open a brand-new campus in Kokubunji, Tokyo, officially recognized by the Ministry of Education.
This new campus will be dedicated to long-term study programs for students who require a visa.

Coto Japanese Institute

Programs

The Kokubunji campus will offer 1-year programs for visa students only:

Basic Course (Beginner to Intermediate)

Progress from JLPT N5 to N3 (CEFR A1 → B1)

Advanced Course (Upper Intermediate to Advanced)

Progress from JLPT N3 to N2/N1 (CEFR B1 → B2)

Tuition fee for the 1-year course: 1,000,000 JPY (including admission and screening fees). Payment can be made annually or in two installments.

Location: Kokubunji

Kokubunji is a popular student town located just 21 minutes by train from central Tokyo.
Surrounded by universities such as Hitotsubashi University and Tokyo Gakugei University, the area offers both an academic atmosphere and a comfortable residential environment.
With parks, shopping centers, and excellent transportation, Kokubunji provides an ideal setting for international students to live and study.

  • Cultural activities: Seasonal events such as barbecues, summer festivals, and soba-making workshops provide opportunities to experience Japanese culture outside the classroom.

Admission & Application

Applications for the October 2026 intake must be completed by April 2026 to allow time for visa processing.

Important: The Kokubunji campus programs can only be applied for through an authorized agent. Our team will guide you through the process, from counseling and documentation to visa application support.
