New Short-Term Japanese Courses Coming to Nagoya from May 2026

GENKI Japanese and Culture School Expands Its Programs

We’re excited to share some great news for students who are interested in studying Japanese in Japan.

GENKI Japanese and Culture School will begin offering short-term Japanese language courses at its Nagoya campus starting May 11, 2026.

Until now, the Nagoya location had been dedicated exclusively to long-term programs. From spring 2026, however, students will be able to enroll in short-term courses ranging from 2 weeks up to 6 months (up to 6 months for visa waiver countries, as student visas are not available for this duration).

In addition, GENKI will introduce a brand-new and Nagoya-exclusive program: the PLUS Tourism Module, making this campus especially appealing for students who wish to combine Japanese language study with hands-on cultural experiences.

Why Study Japanese in Nagoya?

Nagoya is Japan’s third-largest city, following Tokyo and Osaka, and is located in the heart of Aichi Prefecture. It is a city where history and modern innovation coexist.

Nagoya is famously known as the birthplace of three of Japan’s most influential historical figures — Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu — leaders who laid the foundation of modern Japan.

In more recent history, Aichi is also home to Toyota Motor Corporation, which established Nagoya as one of Japan’s leading manufacturing and technology centers.

Today, Nagoya offers:

  • Excellent local cuisine
  • Lively nightlife
  • Easy access to sightseeing spots
  • Fewer crowds compared to Tokyo
  • Excellent transportation connections

Conveniently located between Tokyo and Osaka, Nagoya provides an ideal base for traveling throughout Japan while experiencing authentic daily life.
